Featured Curriculum: Jenga Kijiji™
Jenga Kijiji™ is a year-long Community and Belonging curriculum grounded in African philosophies and connected to global ideas. Drawing on Ubuntu (our humanity is shared), Ujamaa (community and collective responsibility), and Sankofa (learning from the past to shape the future), students explore identity, relationships, belonging, ethical citizenship, and their responsibility to the wider world.
The curriculum offers a fresh perspective by treating African knowledge systems as foundations for learning, rather than occasional cultural additions. Students discover that ideas rooted in African communities can illuminate universal questions: Who are we? How do we live together? What do we owe one another? How can communities honor the past while building a more just future?
Through storytelling, dialogue, reflection, collaborative projects, and community experiences, Jenga Kijiji™ connects local identity with global understanding. The framework can be adapted to each school’s culture, calendar, and educational priorities.
